Achieving Internet Accessibility

Internet Accessibility

The Ontario Labour Relations Board has built into its website design the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) Priority I and II Accessibility Guidelines.

Site Navigation H1, H2, H3 tags are used for hierarchical headings.
Keyboard Navigation - pages can be navigated using the TAB and ENTER keys
Skip Navigation Link - Each page contains a Skip Navigation link that will take you to the beginning of the content area.
Access Keys - Shortcut keys that will take you to the corresponding pages.
Links All links have title attributes that describe the link in greater detail.
Images All graphic images include descriptive ALT tags that describe the function of each image.
Cascading Style Sheets Uses style sheets for visual layout and style. The content of each page is still readable when a browsing device does not support style sheets.
Fonts & Background Font type, size, and colour and background colour can be overridden by users own customized settings.
Content All content meets W3C standards (HTML 4.01 & CSS2) and conforms with the W3C's AA compliancy standards, and WAI accessibility guidelines
Tables Data tables contain descriptions for screen readers. Layout tables - no complex table structures and pages can be easily resized.
