Notice to the Community

Last fall members of the OBA labour and administrative law sections met with the Chair and proposed that the Board set up a community advisory committee for the purposes of having more direct community input into a broad range of Board issues. The Board decided that the proposal made a lot of sense and would be a valuable vehicle for input to the Board for a variety of reasons.

In order to determine who should be on the OLRB Advisory Committee, the Chair has decided to strike an Interim Advisory Committee. The purpose of the Interim Committee is to get the process off the ground, and to develop terms of reference and a recruitment protocol for a permanent community OLRB Advisory Committee. More specifically, this Interim Committee will deal with the issue of who gets to sit on the Advisory Committee and for how long; and what the particular role of the Committee will be.

The Interim Committee will be co-chaired by Angela Rae (Filions) and David Wright (Ryder Wright). The members are Kevin Whitaker (Chair) and Len Marvy (Solicitor) from the Board, Tim Hadwen (Director, Legal Services Branch, Ministry of Labour), Joe Liberman (Matthews), Jim Hayes (Cavalluzzo Hayes) Craig Rix (Hicks), Liz Mitchell (Koskie Minsky), Sunil Kapur (McCarthys), Peter Engelmann (Sack, Goldblatt, Mitchell), Diane Gee (Heenan Blaikie) and Gail Misra (CaleyWray). The first meeting will take place on March 27, 2006.
